I knew that SieMatic was the crème de la crème of kitchens, the ultimate in design and excellence, but spending a week at their academy in Germany was a breath taking revelation of why this brand is a world leader.
After seeing all the beautiful kitchens and interiors at their house fare in Germany last September, and our own showroom fitted with stunning SieMatic kitchen displays, I couldn’t wait to see how they were made and the way their workshop and business was run.
The training academy in near Lohne, Germany at the stunning SieMatic showroom, on the site of the original workshop is where it all started in 1929. The workshop and showroom remain on the same site although much extended.
Seeing how they work was inspiring. What really struck me was the meticulous attention to detail and quality. Years of experience in this family-owned business and the knowledge passed down now to the third generation is immense. Today their designs include the Classic and Pure styling and the new range Urban with its functionality, durability and elegant styling, winning the 2016 prestigious German design award. The doors, hinges, shelving, Multimatic system (patented by SieMatic and not available from any other kitchen manufacturer) give infinite amounts of flexibility for great storage and useable interiors from wine racks to gorgeous real smoked chestnut drawer accessories, ipad and phone chargers. The special shelf racks that fit to the back of doors for all sorts from spices, utensils, bottles, kitchen roll holders, the possibilities are endless. And SieMatic was the original designer and maker of the handleless kitchen back in 1960.
Everything at SieMatic was extremely efficiently run. The workshop was so clean, tidy and organised. Items checked and rechecked to make sure everything leaves the SieMatic workshop in perfect condition.
This week-long intense focus also allowed me to really familiarise myself with the huge SieMatic choice of 1,950 colours across finishes in high gloss, matt lacquer, the highest quality laminate or fine wood.
I finished the Academy fully assured of the quality and design excellence and hard work that goes into these prestigious kitchens. This is the highest quality, bespoke, precision engineering and design. A first for Sheffield, available exclusively here at my fathers heart.
