Meet Izaak Garner our Cabinet Maker

As a key member of the my fathers heart cabinet making team, Izaak is responsible for operating machinery in the workshop, as well as assembling projects and fitting kitchens on site.

Some of his favourite raw materials to work with include Burr oak, Canadian maple and American black walnut. Izaak also has an incredible eye for detail, making him one of the go-to team members for painting, varnishing and other finishing touches.

Let’s meet Izaak…

Hi Izaak, when did you join my fathers heart?

I joined in January 2017, so it’s been a few years now.

And what do you do?

Machining, assembling, painting, varnishing and fitting. Pretty much the full works, for kitchens, furniture and bedrooms.

How would your team describe you?

Incredible. Inspiring? Yeah I think that sums it up. And modest, of course.

Why would you recommend my fathers heart?

The people here are making the things they make and doing the job they do because they enjoy it. It’s something that they’re passionate about. The results from that are just second to none.

Do you have a favourite project?

Yes – a walnut ottoman. It was an independent project where I was the main person responsible. It was a great learning experience where I worked using my favourite timber. You can’t get better than that really.

What about your days off?

The simple things really. I like to go out with friends and spend time with family whenever I’m free. I’ve got a band I like to make music with too, and I quite like to go climbing. Obviously the Peak District is number one for that.
