Joe, who is now a full-time employee at My Fathers Heart, has achieved a coveted distinction result for his General Furniture Manufacturer qualification studied with The North Lancs Training Group. Joe underwent the new End Point Assessment (EPA) which is designed to develop and test the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed in the profession.
Joe really appreciated developing his skills alongside some of the country’s best cabinet makers. Said Joe ‘Being around experienced craftsmen every day has helped me achieve a high standard of work. Over the time I’ve been here, I’ve picked up loads of techniques from the team that have improved my workflow and overall understanding. I’m glad to be at a company like this, where I am constantly encouraged to reach perfection.’
For the Level 2 Furniture Manufacturer apprenticeship, Joe had to demonstrate he could produce and assemble bespoke pieces of furniture to meet individual customers’ requirements. This included interpreting and challenging designs and offering solutions, selecting appropriate materials, making the components and assembling pieces of furniture using machinery and hand production techniques.
Jonathan Coulthard, My Fathers Heart owner, commented ‘Joe, we’re very proud of you. That’s a fantastic effort. Well done!’
